The summer school is marking its 50th anniversary by coming back into the venues and on to the streets of the local communities of West Clare.
For the past two years the school functioned online keeping in contact with its followers and maintaining continuity of presence. Via modern technology it continued to provide tuition and entertainment for students and the general public and employment and platforms for tutors and performers.
To augment the online programme the Irish Traditional Music Archive delved into the records of the summer school and produced an enthralling panorama of video footage from past decades. These were presented over a three-week period and attracted large audiences, national and international. We got glimpses again of people and events from previous summer schools and these clips generated pleasant memories in uncertain times.
But at this stage there is a growing confidence that we can curate a full on-the-ground programme in 2022 and every effort will be focused on realising this objective. Obviously all events will be conducted in compliance with whatever health guidelines are in force during the scheduled summer school week.
Students intending to participate in classes in 2022 must pre-book to ensure a place in the tuition programme. It is vital that the general public who wish to attend afternoon and evening events keep a watch on the website where information on registration and programme and ongoing developments will be constantly updated.
